We're the couple behind what were proud independent bookstores (Mansion Book Merchants, The Next Chapter, and Raven's Tale) in Davis, Woodland and Placerville, California. For 22 years we sold the best in hand-picked new books and had the best jobs we could ever hope to have. After we shut down our last store, we helped put together and managed a very special bookstore named read. booksellers in Danville, California for a year. Now we are here bringing you publishing news — comments on books, bookstores, and an occasional movie — lists of the best books, and more from the world of books.

The company that hosts our website (IPOWER) is good and green.
While they are not able to generate wind energy on site,
they offset ALL of their electricity use with wind-generated Renewable Energy Certificates,
which prevent the release of 2,660 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year.
