Once anyone steps into read. Booksellers - they know there is a special place. It's not your typical independent bookstore. Beyond the thousands upon thousands of hand-picked books that line the walls and fill the cases, are hundreds of magazines (close to 500 titles) right there in the front of the store, a nice selection of newspapers, all those gorgeous fountain, rollerball, and ballpoint  pens, and then there are all those cool eye-catching gift items of all types from beautiful furniture to vases, frames, trunks, and so much more. And, it changes every week when more fascinating merchandise arrives. I will tell you about more neat stuff ... soon.

Our magazine selection has been a little slow in building, but now has a wide range, and is only going to get better and better as we fine-tune our titles. There will be around 500 to choose from when our full selection has all arrived.

Why, just today (this was the end of February), we saw the following magazines arrive for the first time:
Atomic Ranch - Backpacker Gear Guide - Bell Armoire Jewelry - Bon Appetit - Bookmarks - Dance - Eating Well - Fly Tyer - Fortune - Interweave Knits - Money - Smithsonian - Sun - U.S. News & World Report - and Wine Spectator.

I have to tell you, I got in Sun magazine because of a customer request - I had never even looked at it before. The magazine comes in, I look through it, and I had to have it! This is one very interesting, provocative, attractive, well-done magazine. Practically every article made me think  - many times in a new and different way, which is always good for your head. There was also a selection of writings sent in by the magazine's readers (a regular Sun feature) that was an intriguing collection of nonfiction writings about memorable walks people wanted to share. Walking as a topic, excuse my pun, might sound lame, but I really connected with these writings. These people brought in memories of everything from romance, the beauty of nature, to WWII death camps. It worked. I will stop now, but give yourself a new treat - take a look at Sun magazine next time your near our magazine racks ... then ... look around some more. You never know what you'll find. And remember, we're always open to suggestions.

another new magazine update - 3/15/10
American Poetry Review - Cabinet - Cigar Aficionado - Horn Book - Marie Claire - Orion - Spa - Tin House - Writer's Chronicle and WLT World Literature Today.
Our selection gets better and better.
